The Rules According to Virginia

Rule 1: Get connected with specialists as quickly as possible after you're diagnosed.
Rule 2: Do it yourself.
Rule 3: Find the biggest possible hammer and use it.
Rule 4: Minimize the customized information to your friends, maximize the information distribution.
Rule 5: Listen when people volunteer to help and make good use of the volunteers.
Rule 6: Don't ever toss anybody's phone number.
Rule 7: Even if you think you know the answer, ask questions and listen to the answers.
Rule 8: You can control your treatment environment.
Rule 9: Take some time to smell the Roses!
Rule 10: The menu list is not definitive!
Rule 11: Make your food dreams come true when you get home.
Rule 12: Whether you love it or hate it, think twice.
Rule 13: The cure for being pooped is to build up gradually to your normal activities.
Rule 14: Find a group!
Rule 15: Remember Rule 7.
Rule 16: Have a plan, but don't cast it in stone.
Rule 17: You may have chemobrain, but you can function at a high level with a little help.
Rule 18: Every disease or injury after you finish treatment is not cancer.
Rule 19: Lots of people don't have cancer.
Rule 20: You'll find your place in your restructured world, it just may take a little time.
Rule 21: Do whatever works for you.
